Triathlon Ontario Announces 2014 Ontario Youth Cup Series Venues
March 31, 2014 – Triathlon Ontario announced the race venues for the second edition of its Ontario Youth Cup Series. New for the 2014 year is the expansion from four races to five for the 14-15 year old age category, and the addition of a four race series for the 12-13 year old age category.
As per the new Provincial Development Program, launched in late 2013, the purpose of the Youth Cup Series is to provide junior athletes a draft legal competitive race environment within the Province (for 14-15 year olds). It is Triathlon Ontario’s belief that developing a strong Provincial race series is imperative to developing a system that encourages increased participation, skill development, club growth and a higher level of investment in the sport. A series that encompasses draft legal events allows athletes to develop the experience needed to appreciate the complexities and competitive nature of this style of racing.
Where ever possible, events were chosen so as to not conflict with Triathlon Canada’s National Junior Series and the Ontario Summer Games.

Series Points
Final Youth Cup series ranking is determined by the sum of the four of five best performances for the 14-15 age category and three of four best performances for the 12-13 age category.

Tie Breakers
In the event of a tie, athletes are ranked in order of their finish at Provincials for the 14-15 age category and Lakeside KOS for the 12-13 age category. If neither athlete participates in said events, then the deciding race will default to the beginning of the schedule for which the athletes in question participate in.
