Duathlon Provincials and ‘Du-the-Double’ Duathlon Challenge Take Bracebridge by Storm

Duathletes in Ontario came out in drives to Multisport Canada’ Bracebridge as it played host to both the Sprint and International Distance Duathlons over the past weekend.

Triathlon Ontario put up $1,000 in prize money for a unique contest it created called the ‘Du-the-Double’ Duathlon Challenge, in which athletes that competed in both events scored points based on their finish in their age group in each event. Duathletes that were interested in competing in the 2016 ITU Age Group Duathlon World Championships could also qualify at this event. All of these special events helped MSC to experience a 144% increase in participants in the International Duathlon and a 79% increase in the Sprint Duathlon.

It was a dominating weekend for local Brian Moore who took home both Provincial titles and the $500 prize for the ‘Du-the-Double’ Challenge. On the women’s side, Jasmin Aggarwal won the International Distance Provincial Championship and the $500 ‘Du-the-Double’ prize while Tammy Purdy won the Sprint Distance title. Congrats to all!
