Flying Monkey Bike Shop Joins Provincial Team's IST

October 8, 2015 – Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, announced that the Flying Monkey Bike and Coffee Shop will be joining the Provincial Development Team’s Integrated Support Team (IST). In addition to providing mechanical support, precision bike fits and saddle mapping to Team members, Flying Monkey will offer all Triathlon Ontario members 25% off bike fits and saddle mapping for both road and tri bikes and 10% off of all store items.

“Having an optimal bike fit is essential for our Provincial Team in order to maximize their performance on the National and International stage,” said Phil Dale, Executive Director of Triathlon Ontario. “Whether through development or growth, our Junior and U23 athlete’s physiology is constantly changing. A first class fitter and mechanic local to the Velodrome, site of a number of cycling focused camps, is a fundamental necessity of our expanding Provincial Program.”

The professionals at the Flying Monkey Bike shop will be joining the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, Triathlon Ontario’s current IST members.

ISTs are sport sciences, sports medicine and other team management professionals that support coaches and athletes. ISTs may include a physiologist, sport psychologist, biomechanist, nutritionist, physical therapists/athletic therapist, and equipment support. The IST works regularly with the coaches and athletes to ensure athletes receive world-class care and support for their training, recovery and competition programs. The goal of our IST is to ensure that Ontario athletes are healthy, fit and psychologically ready for optimal performance.
