ITU World Championship Qualifying Races
– Triathlon Ontario Announces ITU World Championship Qualifying Host Venues –
December 5, 2018 – Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial governing body of Multisport in Ontario, announced the 2019 host venues for Age Group qualification for both the 2020 ITU World Multisport Championships (Almere, Netherlands) and ITU World Triathlon Championships (Edmonton).
Sprint Triathlon
MultiSport Canada Rose City Triathlon (1 spot) – June 23
Toronto Triathlon Festival (1 spot non-drafting, 1 spot draft legal race) – July 21
Subaru Triathlon Series Orillia (1 spot) – August 18
Standard Triathlon
Subaru Triathlon Series Guelph Lake 1 (1 spot) – June 15
Toronto Triathlon Festivall (1 spot) – July 21
MultiSport Canada Bracebridge (1 spot) – August 10
Sprint Duathlon
MultiSport Canada Gravenhurst (1 spot) – July 14
Standard Duathlon
MultiSport Canada Lakeside (1 spot) – September 8
Long Course Triathlon

How to Qualify
Interested athletes must be Triathlon Ontario members or members of their home Provincial Governing Bodies if not from Ontario, PRIOR to competition. Results are adjusted to determine appropriate five year age categories based on competitor’s ages as of December 31, 2020. The age adjusted results will be used to determine the automatic qualified athletes, who will be notified by Triathlon Canada directly.
Roll Down Policy
Triathlon Canada is offering an opportunity to claim an unclaimed spot for those athletes who do not automatically qualify based on the age adjusted results. Athletes will need to submit an online (link to be provided) Expression of Interest for the event they wish to claim a roll down spot in PRIOR to the event race date. Athletes will be charged $20 to submit an their “EOI” which will be treated as a deposit for those who are successful in obtaining a spot and will be deducted from their Team Management Fee as part of their official confirmation to the team. The $20 fee will be non-refundable for athletes who are unsuccessful in obtaining a spot. However, it may be applied to a charity entry instead. Successful athletes will be notified by Triathlon Canada directly.
