Nutritional Support added to 2018/19 Provincial Development Program

 

– Integrated Support Team to include nutrition, sports science, bike maintenance and fitting and swim data analytics –

 

July 18, 2018 – Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial governing body of Multisport in Ontario, announced that it will be adding nutritional support to its upcoming 2018/19 Provincial Development Program.

Madeline Yungblut, current Masters of Science, Sport and Exercise Nutrition candidate, joins an Integrated Support Team that includes sport science service providers, PEAK Centre for Human Performance, bike fitting and maintenance providers, Flying Monkey Bike Shop and swim analytics platform to provider TritonWear.

The nutrition support will use dietary strategies to achieve the following:
Optimize long-term health
Optimize performance
Optimize and implement pre, during, and post workout nutritional strategies
Impart nutritional knowledge and understanding to athletes
Prevention of injury and illness
The services offered to Program athletes will include:
Diet analysis
Structured meal plans centered around specific training periods and races
Nutritional seminars covering critical topics
Ongoing access and communication
Recipes, grocery lists and other services

The relaunched Provincial Development Program will begin accepting applications in September for a limited number of athletes aged 15-22. The Program will be designed for development athletes interested in working directly with Triathlon Ontario to receive direct, premium development focused coaching services and other critical support.

For those athletes not interested in working on a full-time basis with the the Province, drop-in, non-compulsory training opportunities will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
