Paratriathlon Athlete and Guide Clinics – June 3

 

– Clinics hosted by Rio 2016 Paralympic guide Sasha Boulton – 

 

May 22, 2018 – Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial governing body of Multisport in Ontario, announced registration for two June 3rd Para clinics, featuring 2016 Rio Paralympian guide Sasha Boulton, is now open.

The first is a guide clinic and is ideal for anyone interested in becoming a guide for a paratriathlete. The second clinic is a paratriathlete clinic and is ideal for any para-athlete of any ability interested in learning more about paratriathlon. Further details and itinerary below.

Sasha Boulton – At just 24 years of age, Sasha has accumulated a wealth of experience in both able bodied triathlon and paratriathlon. Competing in the sport for 16 years, Sasha was a promising junior elite athlete, competing for Team Ontario at the 2013 Canada Summer Games as well as for Canada on the international level.

After a serious injury kept Sasha sidelined for about a year, ending her junior career, she came back to the sport as a para guide in 2015.

As a guide Sasha reached the pinnacle of the sport by competing in the debut of paratriathlon at the Rio 2016 Paralymic Games. Sasha has now focused her efforts on para coaching and is working with Triathlon Ontario to help build a para program and build the sport in Ontario.

Guide Clinic (8:00am-9:15am)

Learn how to be a sighted guide to a visually impaired athlete paratriathlete, including about the equipment that is needed, rules of being a guide and practice different techniques for guiding cycling and running.

Location: GO Station Parking Lot – Milton

Cost: $20

 

Paratriathlon Clinic (9:30am-12:00pm)

This intro clinic will include bike skills and a run workout for paratriathletes of all experience levels and abilities. If you are visually impaired you will be paired up with a guide trained in the earlier session. Meet like minding individuals and learn about upcoming events and racing in Ontario.
